One-on-one Coaching
The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching this way: "Professional Coaching is an ongoing partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life." What are these so-called 'fulfilling results' and 'enhanced quality of life'? Here are some of the results my one-on-one clients have experienced:
- Breaking through a years-long case of writer's block
- Clearing out clutter that was causing "hardening of the arteries" in the hallways
- Choosing a new career direction and going back to school for the training
- Expanding a small business and opening a second location
- Starting a new business
- Clarifying life purpose or passions
- Striking the right balance between day job, family, and passions
- Taking the leap into new and exciting pursuits
- Replacing self-defeating patterns with self-affirming ones
- Aligning business goals with personal goals
- Setting regular weekly goals and planning so they get done
- Putting together a business plan
- Polishing a resume so it helps get an ideal job, not just any job
If you have a goal (whether it's tiny or huge) that you've thought about but haven't tried, or tried unsuccessfully to achieve, or can't seem to make much progress on, contact me for a free sample session. You can get a feel for what coaching is like, what my style is like, and get some work done on whatever topic, issue, or goal you bring to the session.
Project Accountability Coaching
This is a variation on one-on-one coaching. Rather than having a coaching session of 30 to 45 minutes each week, we would arrange much shorter sessions much more often. You might have a project that needs to be done in two weeks. We could have, for example, a 10-minute session every weekday until the project deadline. Or if you want to spend two focused days decluttering--we might have a 5 minute check-in session to keep you focused on the process. The call might include little more than seeing how the last hour went and what you're committing to complete in the next hour.
Group Coaching
Group coaching is a great option for a work team, a circle of friends, couples, or even individuals who may feel like they can't afford what coaching is worth to them. The group acts as an immediate source of support, brainstorming ideas, and accountability to keep each member on target to reach their goals. Send me email or call (206-522-6224 / 206-52-COACH) to get more information, set up a group, or find out if there's already a group going that you could join.
Coaching Packages
A coaching package is a process or series of steps that we go through together from start to finish for a set price. It differs from one-on-one coaching in that I'm providing the form and structure, rather than asking you what you'd like to work on in each session. It's also finite; when we get through all the steps, it's over. In one-on-one coaching, there's usually a three-month agreement with the option to continue month-to-month thereafter.
My current coaching packages include:
- Where is Your Business Taking You?: A package for the small business owner. The process involves looking at your personal goals and values, and making changes in your business goals and planning so that the business takes you where you want to be. $300
- Create Your Vision for the Future: Learn several techniques for brainstorming the kinds of things, activities, and qualities you would like in your life. You will also gain tools to organize the jumble of images, wants, dreams, and hopes into a coherent vision and plan for the future, as well as how to set out--with help from others--to make it come true. $300
Classes, Workshops, and Seminars
Email Correspondence Courses
I offer the following correspondence courses, which introduce you to information, ideas, and perspectives, then give you activities to put it to practical use in your own life:
- Simplification and the Environment: Learn techniques for changing and simplifying your life, methods for measuring environmental impact, and how to focus on greater fulfillment. Free!
- Create Your Vision for the Future: This is the online version of the coaching package above. Learn several techniques for brainstorming the kinds of things, activities, and qualities you would like in your life. You will also gain tools to organize the jumble of images, wants, dreams, and hopes into a coherent vision and plan for the future, as well as how to set out--with help from others--to make it come true. $30
- More Time to Play: C'mon, let's play! In a culture that's increasingly more product and productivity oriented, it's more important than ever to develop and maintain a sense of play and fun. Most people spend lots of time working, usually doing something doesn't bring a sense of joy and happiness. So bring your sense of humor along and we'll work on creating space to have more play, fun, and joy in our lives! $30
In-Person Workshops
- Seven Ways to Get What You Want: Inspired by a line in Barbara Sher's book, Wishcraft: How to Get What You Really Want, this workshop starts with a few exercises to get you focused on a goal or dream. From there, we explore seven different ways to get what you need to achieve it.
- The 5 Elements of World Change: Using the five traditional Chinese elements (Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, Fire) as a basis, we'll go through a process of setting change in motion. The process can be as easily applied to a small change in your daily routine to big shifts around global issues.
- Change the System: This is a three-session course based on the concepts of life coaching and systems thinking as presented in Peter Senge's Fifth Discipline series. Learn to recognize systems in your life, and how to identify the sometimes counter-intuitive leverage points to make more effective change.
Business Seminars
Most of the above classes and workshops can be modified for a business setting. In addition, I offer a vision-building series, which entails working one-on-one with each member of a team or company to help each employee get a feel for their own personal mission/vision. Finally, the entire team is brought together and uses these personal visions to build a shared vision for the team or company. This often energizes employees, who see their work for the team or company as furthering their own life purpose as well.
Public Speaking
I am available for public speaking events, including breakout groups at conferences, presentations at group meetings, fundraisers, or stand-alone events. My most common topics include:
- Your Money or Your Life: As a member of the New Road Map Foundation's Speaker's Bureau, I offer presentations about personal finance based on the bestselling book, Your Money or Your Life by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin. Free.
- Community Money: As founder and steward of the King County LETSystem Registry, I have many presentations about community money, also known as complementary currency systems. Fee negotiable.
- Voluntary Simplicity: A topic related to the above two, I can customize a voluntary simplicity presentation around issues of interest to your audience.
- Personal Growth, Motivation, and Change: Being a life coach, I have done quite a few presentations in the personal growth, motivation, and change arena. Specific topics I've covered in the past include using coaching techniques to help those around you succeed; dealing with disempowering language and thought patterns; and the importance of having a personal vision.
